This is a special year for our “10 Days of Giving” Food Drive. It’s our 20th Anniversary. In those 20 years we’ve collected over 1 million pounds of food for area food shelves to help feed the hungry. We’ve learned a good deal in those 20 years, including how far a dollar can go when it’s put in the right hands.

Our local food shelves have unmatched buying power. For every dollar that we put into their hands they can buy two pounds of food on average and sometimes more. That can more than double what we get with food donations. For instance, on October 13, Winona Volunteer Services was able to purchase 300 pounds of chunk chicken breasts for $54. With that in mind, we ask for your support of this year's food drive with a monetary donations.

Our goal is to ensure that no one in Winona County goes hungry this winter. Your help is needed as new families seeking assistance have increased by 39% in 2008. This year – especially this year – when so many have faced challenges, there’s no reason anyone in our area should go hungry. You can help. Thank you in advance for your support during our 20th Anniversary Year!!
