Merchants Bank locations in Cottage Grove, Hastings, St. Charles and Winona will celebrate the “10 Days of Giving” food drive December 1-10.


Cottage Grove is in its ninth year and will be including Woodbury this year for the first time. Hastings is in its sixth year and St. Charles and Winona are celebrating the 29th year for the food drive. The food drive in each location is a community event. This year’s food drive will benefit the Friends in Need Food Shelf in Cottage Grove and the Christian Cupboard Emergency Food Shelf in Woodbury. Monetary donations or toiletry items can be made at Merchants Bank in Cottage Grove, sent with children to the school or can be brought to the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train stop, near the Sieben Bridge, in front of the Youth Service Bureau, at 5:15 p.m. December 9. All donations made at the Holiday Train will benefit the Friends in Need Food Shelf. Contact us for more information.
This year’s food drive benefits Hastings Family Service. Merchants and area schools will collect monetary donations and non-perishable food items. Donations can be dropped at Merchants Bank in Hastings, sent with students to school or can be brought to the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train visit to Hastings, at the Canadian Pacific Depot, 500 East Second Street, 8:30 p.m., December 8. This year’s food drive benefits the Hometown Resource Center in St. Charles and was kicked off by a $400 donation from Merchants Bank in St. Charles. Monetary donations and non-perishable food items can be dropped off at the Bank or participating schools. Contact us for more information.
Winona’s drive benefits the food shelf at Winona Volunteer Services. To date, more than 3 million pounds of food have been collected, with each dollar being counted as two pounds of foods. Monetary donations, which are encouraged, or non-perishable food items can dropped off at any of the participating school churches, daycares, businesses or any Merchants Bank location. 2017 Collection Total

Final totals for the “10 Days of Giving” Food Drive through the end of the day Thursday, December 14, were at 207,898 pounds of food. The 2017 total breaks down to $93,673 in cash and 20,552 pounds of food. For the purposes of the total, two pounds of food are counted for each dollar. Last year’s total was 206,050 pounds. The total for 29 years now stands at 3,253,363 pounds.

Jefferson Pub & Grill Day | 58 Center Street, Winona

10% of all sales from 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. on December 2 will be donated.

Winter Wonderland Department 56 Snow Village  9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. | 64 East 4th Street, Winona

You must see this spectacular showcasing of a local snow village. Tour the beautiful collection displayed throughout multiple rooms. Following the tour, Santa and Mrs. Claus will be visiting with guests on December 2 from 9 a.m. -1 p.m.  Admission is a non-perishable food item or monetary donation.  Also open for viewing December 1-8 from 4:00-7:30 p.m. and December 9-10 2:00-5:00 p.m.

Holiday Lighted Parade at 5:30 p.m. | 6th Street, Goodview 

Enjoy the dazzling lights, Santa and Mrs. Claus and refreshments at Merchants Bank in Goodview. After the parade Santa and Mrs. Claus will be at the Elks Lodge to greet children. Bring monetary gifts or non-perishable food items.

Holiday Concert for the Hungry at 2:00 p.m. | WSU Performing Arts Center, 175 West Mark Street in Winona

Enjoy an annual holiday concert performed by the Winona State University Symphonic Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Donald Lovejoy, and the Winona State University Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Paul Vance. Admission is the gift of non-perishable food items or monetary donation.
