Merchants Bank, N.A. is committed to providing a website that is as accessible to those with disabilities as are our physical branch locations. We strive to provide excellence in customer service, both in person and online, to serve our client’s financial service needs.
We are in the process of implementing the Level A and Level AA recommendations of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) as published by the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). There is no definitive test or certification of conformance to Level A or Level AA of the WCAG but we have used a variety of methods for assessing accessibility.
Merchants Bank, N.A. strives to make every page accessible to users but cannot guarantee that every page fully meets these guidelines. At the same time, we do believe our website will meet the accessibility expectations of consumers.
Here are some steps we take toward providing accessible web content:
- Ongoing training of our web team on accessible design and content development
- Accessibility standards as part of our third party vendor evaluation for all customer tools, such as online banking
- Staff and resources dedicated to accessibility testing of new and updated web content
- Assuring our site is responsive for mobile devices and appropriately zooms up to 400% on a desktop without the use of assistive technology
In addition to digital accessibility, Merchants Bank, N.A. has always been committed to providing full service access to our products and services to those with disabilities through our network of branch locations. We provide handicap designated parking spots in our bank owned parking lots, accessible building entrances and restrooms, wheelchair height customer service desks, and live customer service personnel. Well behaved service animals are welcome on premise. Our bank owned ATM network is equipped with audio jack functionality that serves those with hearing and vision impairments. Those with vision impairment may wish to visit with customer service staff about ordering large print checks.
