Greg Evans
President & Chief Executive Officer
Greg is a Winona native and graduate of Winona Senior High School and Valparaiso (Ind.) University. He joined Merchants in 1989 as the first Marketing Department was being created and served as Director of Marketing until 2007, when he became Regional President for the Cannon Falls, Red Wing and Hampton markets. Greg returned to Winona in 2014 as Chief Banking Officer. He became President & CEO of MFGI in February 2017. Greg is currently serving as a member of the Government Relations Councils for the American Bankers Association and Minnesota Bankers Association Board of Directors.
Julie Carstensen
Chief Operations/Process Officer
Julie has spent her career in bank operations, with nearly two decades of experience in process optimization and efficiency, strategic execution and banking standardization and alignment. She was previously SVP/Manager, Consumer Operations for UMB Bank in Kansas City, MO, which acquired HTLF where she led bank operations for more than 15 years. Over her tenure, she has overseen branch optimization and operational risk and led large-scale change initiatives. She joined Merchants in 2025.
Andrew Guzzo
Chief Banking Officer & President - Winona
Andrew brings more than 15 years of sales and sales management experience from US Foods. He joined the banking industry in 2006, most recently as a Community President for NXT Bank. In 2017, he joined Merchants Bank. As Chief Banking Officer, Andrew has direct responsibility for Winona and Goodview markets and also oversees the strategic direction of our Wealth Management (Trust and Investment) division and key centralized business units.
Cindy Harrison
Chief Credit Officer
Cindy joined Merchants Bank’s Commercial Loan Department in 1992. She was promoted to Commercial Banker in 1995 and spent 15 years working directly with business clients in that role. In 2010 she became Credit Administration Manager, overseeing the mortgage underwriting, credit analysis and credit support teams for the Bank. She was promoted to Director of Credit Administration in 2019 and then Chief Credit Officer in 2022.
Erick Maki
Regional President - South Region
Erick has worked in the financial industry since 1999, most recently serving as Market President for a regional bank, covering the La Crosse, WI area. He holds an MBA from Saint Mary's University in Winona, MN. He joined Merchants Bank as Regional President in 2022. Erick has direct responsibility for our South Region which includes Caledonia, Lanesboro, La Crescent, Onalaska/La Crosse, Rochester, Rushford, Spring Grove and St. Charles markets and surrounding communities.
Dan Massett
Regional President - North Region
Dan began his banking career in 1991 as a Commercial Banker and has over 26 years of banking experience. In 2014, he joined Merchants Bank as a Regional President. As Regional President, Dan has direct responsibility for our North Region which includes Apple Valley, Cottage Grove, Cannon Falls, Eau Claire (WI), Hastings, Lakeville, two locations in Northfield, Red Wing and Rosemount.
Steve Molander
Chief Information Officer
Steve has more than 30 years of experience in information technology, with 23 years exclusively in roles with community banks. He has experience implementing company-wide technology solutions, modernizing information security programs and infrastructure to maintain customer data security, leading transformational change efforts across organizations and more. Steve joined Merchants Bank in 2024.
Lori Reed
Chief Human Resource Officer
Lori has more than 30 years of experience in human resources, including over 10 years of HR leadership in the financial industry. Her deep skillset includes HR strategic planning, operations, policy and compliance, employee relations management, and workforce planning. Lori joined Merchants Bank in 2026.
Sue Savat
Chief Financial Officer
Sue is a Certified Public Accountant and joined Merchants in 1992 as an Internal Auditor/ Electronic Data Processing Auditor. She then returned to work for Merchants in 2000 as Chief Financial Officer for Merchants Bank in Winona. In 2009, she became Chief Financial Officer for Merchants Financial Group.
Dave Schlauderaff
President, Merchants Bank Equipment Finance
With over 26 years of experience, Dave has spent his entire career in equipment finance with U.S. Bank. He joined Merchants in 2022 and oversees our commercial equipment financing division, Merchants Bank Equipment Finance, which serves business customers with equipment finance needs nationwide.
Dr. Julie Van Der Wilt
Chief Risk Officer
Julie has spent most of her professional career in the banking industry, with more than a decade of experience in compliance, security and risk management. She earned her doctoral degree in Business Administration in Finance & Economics at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and taught as an Assistant Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville for several years. Julie joined Merchants Bank in 2024.
