News | 12.22.2025
The 10 Days of Giving drive collected a record-breaking total of 294,859 pounds of food this year, marking its 37th consecutive year. As the bank proudly celebrates its 150th anniversary, this successful drive continues to support the vital food shelf programs at Winona Volunteer Services.

“The generosity we witnessed during these 10 Days of Giving was truly tremendous,” said Andrew Guzzo, Chief Banking Officer & President – Winona. “As always, I am amazed and want to share how grateful I am for your support. Thank you.”

This year’s total was $133,470.71 in cash and 27,918 pounds of food. For tracking purposes, each dollar donated is counted as two pounds of food. This is the highest amount collected in the drive’s 37-year history. Last year’s total was 287,910 pounds. The total for 37 years now stands at 5,390,707 pounds.

“It’s been an honor to serve as co-chair for 10 Days of Giving,” said Co-Chair Lucas Stangl. “Every partner, every donor, every volunteer played a role in making this possible. The generosity we saw was incredible.”

“Giving is second nature to the entire Winona community,” adds Co-Chair Joy Spiten.

Merchants collected donations at its branches as well as at participating schools, businesses and organizations around the area (see full list).

The 10 Days of Giving drive is an annual community collaboration between Merchants Bank and WVS to make sure no one in Winona County goes without each winter. Since 1989, the drive has collected more than five million pounds of food helping thousands of people. In addition to the Winona drive, other Merchants locations partner with their local food shelf in a similar effort.
