Harrison and Thrune Named 10 Days of Giving Co-Chairs

Ashley Harrison and Chris Thrune are Co-Chairs for Merchants Bank’s 2023 10 Days of Giving food drive running December 1-10. In its 35th year, the drive benefits food shelf programs operated by Winona Volunteer Services (WVS). Last year’s campaign raised 260,374 pounds of food for WVS, culminating in more than four million pounds of food donated since the drive began in 1989.
Special events aimed at raising donations this year include the always-delicious Fish Fry Dinner on Friday, December 8 and Apps & Taps featuring celebrity bartenders at Port 507 on Sunday, December 10. To celebrate 35 years, there’s also a special anniversary event at Peter’s Biergarten. Learn more about special events here.
“I’ve been involved with 10 Days of Giving since joining the Bank,” said Harrison, “so I’m excited to be a co-chair this year, coordinating fun opportunities for our community to support those in need.”
Winona County still has many community members facing hardship who need assistance. So far, in 2023 Winona Volunteer Services has distributed 433,523 pounds of food and spent $94,558 in food purchases, helping over 1,600 families.
“There has been a lot of impact throughout the years and I’m excited to see what our 35th year has in store,” said Thrune. “The generosity of the Winona community is what makes 10 Days of Giving so special.”
Monetary donations made out to 10 Days of Giving can be mailed or dropped off at Merchants Bank, 102 E. 3rd Street, Winona, MN 55987. The 10 Days of Giving food drive is an annual community collaboration between Merchants Bank and WVS to make sure no one in Winona County goes hungry each winter. Since 1989, the drive has collected more than four million pounds of food helping thousands of people. In addition to the Winona drive, other Merchants locations partner with their local food shelf in a similar effort.
