Merchants Bank is kicking off the 37th annual 10 Days of Giving drive, which runs December 1–10, to benefit food shelf programs at Winona Volunteer Services (WVS). As the Bank marks its 150th anniversary this year, the tradition of giving continues; through the first 36 years, more than five million pounds of food have been collected.
“The spirit of the holidays is all about giving and our 10 Days of Giving food drive is a chance to do just that,” said Burke, “Thank you to everyone who contributes – your generosity helps ensure that those in need have food on their table and joy in their hearts this season.”
Last year, the 10 Days of Giving campaign collected 287,910 pounds of food. For tracking purposes, each dollar donated is counted as two pounds of food. Monetary donations are an important part of the drive as WVS can purchase food at a discount to stock its shelves.
“Giving is a reflection of who we are and what we value,” said Andrew Guzzo, Merchants’ Chief Banking Officer & Regional President – Winona. “These 10 Days remind us that when we lead with heart, we make a lasting difference – together.”
Monetary donations and checks (payable to 10 Days of Giving) can be mailed or dropped off at Merchants Bank, 102 E. 3rd Street, Winona, MN 55987. Donations can also be made online at the WVS website: www.winonavs.org. Indicate 10 Days of Giving in the notes section.
Several special events are happening during 10 Days of Giving, including the annual Fish Fry, Touchdowns for 10 Days, Santa’s Workshop (kids’ event) at the Minnesota Marine Art Museum, Ugly Sweater Shindig at the VFW, a jazz fusion concert and 10% off days at local restaurants. Additionally, Midtown Foods is rounding up all transactions to the nearest dollar December 1-10 and donating that amount to 10 Days of Giving.
